IPGP (FR)
The Institut de physique du globe de Paris is a major institution for higher education and research created in 1883, and a funding-member of the new Université de Paris created in 2019. The IPGP studies the Earth and the planets from their core to their outermost fluid envelopes through observation, experimentation and modelling. One of the four major research themes of IPGP is named “Origins” (http://www.ipgp.fr/en/origins) and is dedicated to the study of the origin and early evolution of the Solar system. Around this theme, IPGP groups several front laboratories and scientific activities in mineral physics, geochemistry, cosmochemistry (e.g., isotopic studies of meteorites), astrophysics (e.g., numerical simulation of the solar accretion disk), planetology (experimental geophysics), geomicrobiology.
