The NCBJ is a public-law body with the activity addressed to scientific research in the field of basic research in physics, as well as technological research and development in the field of nuclear detectors and electronics, material physics, medical physics, nuclear energy and environmental study. NCBJ is manufacturer and distributor of the isotopic goods applied in medicine, research and development, industry and environment protection as well as manufacturer of electron linear accelerators for industry and medicine.

National Centre for Nuclear Research is the largest research Institute in Poland, operating the only nuclear reactor in Poland. Currently over 820 employees are hired with a research staff of about 60 Professors and holders of the dr hab. post-doctoral degree, as well as over 150 PhDs.

Division of Radiation Detectors and Plasma Diagnostics (TJ3) is involved in a wide study of modern scintillation detectors and their applications to industry, nuclear medicine and homeland security. In the last years the group was involved in a number of national and European projects in variety of tasks connected with application of nuclear techniques to real life applications. The group has published in the last 10 years more than 100 papers in NIMA and IEEE TNS. Most of them were also presented at the IEEE NSS MIC Conferences. TJ3 has the deepest expertise in the field of scintillation detection of neutrons and gamma-rays.
