Chemical Elements as Tracers of the Evolution of the Cosmos

UHULL (UK)

University of Hull (Kingston upon Hull, United Kingdom)

Established in Oct 2015, the E.A. Milne Centre for Astrophysics at the University of Hull is a leading international research unit, with collaborators across more than 40 countries. Beyond the research activity, we are engaged in Education/Public Outreach (EPO) activities, delivering 500+ events to schools and the public since 2015, reaching 50,000 people directly, and a further million+ through online activities.

A theme which has grown organically within the Centre is based around `Galactic Archaeology', confronting sophisticated galactic chemical evolution approaches (Gibson) and industry-leading nucleosynthetic yields (Pignatari, Stancliffe), with the observational chemo-dynamical properties of galaxies. Among other research fields, nuclear astrophysics is therefore a major field of interest with the study of the origin of elements in the universe, fully aligned with the main goals of ChETEC-INFRA.
