Chemical Elements as Tracers of the Evolution of the Cosmos

UNIPD (IT)

University of Padua (Italy)

Thanks to the close collaboration with the Section of Padua of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN), with the National Laboratories of Legnaro, with the unit of Padua of the National Interuniversity Consortium for the Physical Sciences of the Matter (CNISM), with the Department of Physical Sciences and Matter Technologies of the CNR (National Research Council) and with the Padua Astronomical Observatory of the National Institute of Astrophysics (OAPD-INAF) the Department of Physics and Astronomy presents itself as a center of excellence, equipped with all the potential necessary to face the most daring challenges in all the fields of research of Physics, Astronomy and Astrophysics. Nationally and internationally, the new Department of Physics and Astronomy undoubtedly presents itself as one of the best equipped research centers in the sector, with state-of-the-art and consolidated instruments and laboratories, such as the Asiago Astrophysical Observatory, and with easy access to important research infrastructures such as the nearby National Laboratories of Legnaro.

The UNIPD unit has a long experience in nucelar astrophysics providing experties in theoretical models and experimental measurements with direct and indirect methods. A long term particpation in the LUNA experiment represents the fingerprint of a strong experience in underground gamma ray spectroscopy and low level counting measurements.
