UNIVIE (AT)

Universität Wien (Austria)

The University of Vienna is the oldest university in the German-speaking world and one of the largest in Central Europe with currently about 90,000 students enrolled. With 9,800 employees (6,800 academics), the University of Vienna is the largest teaching and research institution in Austria. The Faculty of Physics focuses on fundamental research with an open eye for applications, innovations and physics education. The Isotope Physics group operates the Vienna Environmental Research Accelerator (VERA) since 1996. VERA has an outstanding reputation for the development and improvement of AMS. The recently commissioned ILIAMS beamline (Ion Laser InterAction Mass Spectrometry) is expected to extend the scope of AMS beyond the established isotopes, in particular for application in astrophysics and in environmental sciences.
