The Astronomy part of the Division of Astronomy and Space Physics at Uppsala University has stars and their modelling as its main research focus. We work on stellar and planetary atmospheres, are involved in instrumentation projects (e.g. CRIRES+, HARPS3) and European space missions (e.g. Gaia, PLATO). For the latter and for complementary ground-based surveys (e.g. the Gaia-ESO Survey, 4MOST), we provide state-of-the-art input data and analysis tools (e.g. VALD, REDUCE, MARCS and SME) that are used by spectroscopists worldwide.
